It’s not too late to register for the 2013 National Jamboree…the first Jamboree to be held at the brand new Summit Bechtel Reserve in West Virginia.
Cascade Pacific Council’s Jamboree Contingent will be departing Portland on various flights July 10/11, touring around the Washington D.C. area for about a week (Arlington National Cemetery, The Smithsonian’s, Gettysburg, Colonial Williamsburg…), attending Jamboree for 10 days and returning to Portland on July 26th.
While on tour and at Jamboree all tours, meals and lodging are included in their registration fee. The tour company is located in the Portland area and is going to be very hands on in making sure our scouts have everything they need, including having representatives going back with the contingent, using all newer buses on the tours and even taking care of their laundry the night before they head to the Summit.
While at Jamboree scouts will be able to choose from a wide array of activities. The Summit will have white water rafting, climbing, zip lines and canopy tours, BMX trails just to name a few points of interest. Of course they can work on various merit badges. There will be a “patch trading station”. And unlike past years, scouts will only need to take their duffel bag and a backpack…tents, cots and cooking supplies will be provided.
Jamboree patches this year are designed by Dark Horse Comics, also local to the Portland area. They are expected to be one of the more popular sets for trading while at Jamboree.

The closest troop to Ft. Clatsop District is in Longview, and they do still have space available.
