Are you ready for the High Adventure trip of a lifetime? How does 12 days of backpacking in the high mountains of New Mexico sound? The Cascade Pacific Council has openings now for the 2013 Philmont contingent. Philmont is the national BSA’s premier high adventure backpacking base located in New Mexico. “Crews” of up to ten Scouts and two adult advisors choose from thirty-six, 11 day, 60 to 100 mile backpack trips through the rugged high-altitude backcountry of the southern Rocky Mountains. Along the way, they visit many of Philmont’s 28 staffed camps, featuring activities such as: rock climbing, black powder rifle shooting, blacksmithing, mountain biking, spar pole climbing, horseback riding, or climbing 12,441 ft. to the top of Mt. Baldy. If you are interested in being a part of the council Philmont contingent, please visit www.cpcbsa.org/philmont for more information and/or attend the meeting on June 2nd at the Portland Service Center.
