Tillamook Air Museum to Close??

Are you planning to take a scout group to the Tillamook Air Museum? You might want to plan that sooner rather than later.

In April, Erickson Aero Tanker announced they plan to move the museum to a new facility in Madras. The Madras location will offer a better climate to house the vintage aircraft as well as more skilled labor to maintain the collection.

Their current lease expires in 2016. When the news of the move broke, they did not have a timeline set up for moving aircraft yet. However, speaking to some local scouts over the weekend it appears that some aircraft have already been moved and parts of the hangar have been converted to RV storage…

The Port of Tillamook needs to make about $15million, or more,  in repairs to the blimp hangar (the largest wooden structure in the world…)

  1. Nice to find this out now. We went a couple days ago after driving by it for years. Very disappointed. Nice of them to continue to take the pubic’s money while the collection is being decimated. Live and learn.
