Multiple “Meriting with the Experts” Events Coming up…

We just wanted to make sure you were aware of the upcoming Meriting with the Experts events that are available.  Your boys don’t want to miss out on these great opportunities to connect with and learn from real life experts!
Youth Engineering Day at Daimler Trucks-  This Friday!
In cooperation with Cascade Pacific Council, Daimler Trucks North America is pleased to announce their second annual youth day. This year the event is open not only to Boy Scouts, but also the Girl Scouts and any other youth group ages 11-17. Boy Scouts interested in earning their Engineering Merit Badge will have a chance to sign off their requirements with a Merit Badge Counselor from 4:00pm to 5:30pm after the event.  For More Information or to Register Click Here.
Meriting with the Experts: Willamette Aviation
Willamette Aviation is hosting an event for 100 Boy Scouts to come out and work on the Aviation Merit Badge. This event will run from 9-3 and is sure to be an exciting time. Meet the Aviation Merit Badge Requirements:

· Review the basics: define “aircraft”, uses of aircraft, how airfoil generates lift, how propellers generate thrust, forces in flight, primary control surfaces and how they affect an airplane’s attitude.

· Explain recreational pilot and private pilot certificates, and instrument rating.

· Explore three career opportunities in aviation industry

· Plot a course using an aeronautical chart and fly the course using flight simulator software.

· Build and fly the foam flyer FPG-9glider

Meriting with the Experts: OMSI
OMSI will be hosting an event for 400 Boy Scouts to come out and work on the Electronics Merit Badge. Join us for an evening of hands-on science-related activities. Come learn about electronics including resistors, capacitors, and even solder your very own circuit! All of the activities will be led by trained OMSI instructors and will encompass aspects of the Electronics Merit Badge!  Click here to register.  (9/28)
Meriting with the Experts: Safety
100 Boy Scouts will have the opportunity to meet at Chemeketa Community College in Salem and work on 3 badges: Crime Prevention, Fire Safety, Traffic Safety.  The cost will be $20 and boys should bring a lunch.  Look for more details soon at cpcbsa.org/register    (10/5)
Meriting with the Experts: Portland State University
Plans are just taking shape for a super exciting day in cooperation with Portland State University.  Student groups and professors are getting ready to offer classes for Boy Scouts for such badges as Geology and Anthropolgy.  We wish there was more we could say, but there are so many exciting details we have to nail down before we can share.  Look for more details soon at cpcbsa.org/register    (11/9)
