COST: $30 per Scout
The workshop runs from 9:00 to 3:30 and the cost is $30 per Scout with some of the funds going to support the STEM initiative. Scouts will need to bring their own lunch.
Scouts should acquire and read the Youth Aviation Adventure packet prior to attending the merit badge session. (available on the registration page)
It is strongly encouraged that Scouts be at least 12 years old to participate.
Review the basics: define “aircraft”, uses of aircraft, how airfoil generates lift, how propellers generate thrust, forces in flight, primary control surfaces and how they affect an airplane’s attitude.
Explain recreational pilot and private pilot certificates, and instrument rating.
Explore three career opportunities in aviation industry
Plot a course using an aeronautical chart and fly the course using flight simulator software.
Build and fly the foam flyer FPG-9glider
