Members of Pack 540 met at the Cannon Beach American Legion at 8am on December 23rd. They were tasked with filling and delivering food boxes with the Cannon Beach American Legion and Cannon Beach Fire Department.

They started by helping the Legion finish filling the boxes that contained canned food (some of which those scout collected during Scouting For Food earlier in the month) bread, vegetables, candy, turkeys, bacon, eggs and milk. The filled boxes were loaded onto a UHaul and driven to low income neighborhoods to be deliverd to families who needed them.

While delivering boxes they were followed by Erik Bengel for an article in the Cannon Beach Gazette. http://www.dailyastorian.com/CBG/news/20141223/cannon-beach-volunteers-help-low-income-folks-have-a-merry-christmas

Their work wasn’t quite done yet.  As soon as they finished they headed to the Seaside Fire Department. Once there they loaed up the close to 700lbs of food collected for Scouting for Food in Seaside and delivered it to the Seaside Food Bank.

It was a great way to start the day.
