Day Camp Staff Needed

It’s almost time for our Annual Day Camp again. Camp will run from June 20th – June 24th and this years exciting theme is Space.

We are looking for youth…age 14 and over as well as adults. This is a great way for high school seniors to work on their Pacifica Project. Boy Scouts, helping out at Day Camp can count toward your Eagle.

All staff must be registered with BSA and have taken youth protection training, available online at www.myscouting.org. There will also be a pre-camp training session prior to camp.

We are attempting to have BB/Archery Range training out here on the coast again. This certification is good for 5 years. If you are interested in attending please let us know as soon as possible.

Please contact the Day Camp Program Director, Laurie Kautz at kautz@pacifier.com

There are plenty of ways you can help out with our local day camp…

Although we would LOVE to have extra youth and adult staff at day camp…you can still help out even if you can’t attend camp.

This years day camp will run from June 20th – June 24th and the theme is space…and we are well underway in planning lots of fun activities. We are looking for donations of the following items..

Unwanted campaign signs that are in good condition to be used to mark  the mile of trails from main camp to the fishing, range and geocache areas.

Mesh produce bags, such as the kind on Cutie mandarins

2 liter soda bottles

The use of cinderblocks and 1 x 6 or 12 inch boards to be used as drying shelves for painted wood projects…these quite possibly will have traces of paint on them when returned after camp…

About a dozen straw or hay bales to be used for the archery ranges. As they will outside for the week of camp…on the Oregon coast…they will most likely be damp from dew if not wet from rain by the end of the week.

If you have any of these items you would like to donate to help out, please contact the Day Camp Program Director, Laurie Kautz at kautz@pacifier.com

Memorial Day Weekend Family Camp

Memorial Day weekend family camp
If you’re like many families, you want to get out and to a bit of family camping, perhaps at the beach for a nice relaxing weekend. If you’re looking for reservations at state parks, though, you’re likely finding that they’re already booked.
Please consider spending your Memorial Day weekend at a private camp right on the beach…with other Scouting families at our Memorial Weekend Family Camp. Taking place May 27-30, it’s a fun, relaxing weekend with a few activities and lots of flexibility to take the family into town, see the local attractions, and just have a fun family outing.  More information at http://cpcbsa.org/camping/family-camps/memorial-weekend-family-camp or for Labor Day weekend at http://cpcbsa.org/camping/family-camps/memorial-weekend-family-camp

Goodwill Good Turn numbers need to be turned in

* Please let Laurie Kautz know how much your unit turned in – kautz@pacifier.com
* Please bring a list of the boys who participated to Roundtable – I do have segments.  (I havemore  segments, finally, for friends of scouting too)
* The patches!  Delayed!  They arrived in the council office with a date of 2008.

Camp Royce-Finel update

Camp Royce-Finel (from Tom Grimm re: March 5 clean up day)
“Had good weather for the work day with Two Troop leaders and some boys and Sam Dunkin and myself.
But bad news, the tarp shelter we fixed the supports on were once again destroyed with an ax and two of the picnic tables are destroyed and tossed down the hill. The water was not working either but I will check with City of Warrenton, because the other water meter has a lock on it and they may have turn it off during the cold weather.
We have our work cut out for us on work day May 14.”

Let’s make sure that any of us who are able to help out on May 14th are there. This really is a wonderful camp ground and we want to make sure it’s in tip-top shape for everyone who has the opportunity to use it.
