The Peter Iredale Poem Recited at Day Camp

Friday brought our only sunny day of day camp this year. Just in time for Family Day.

Our campers worked hard all week learning their skits and songs to share with their families prior to closing flag. This year we had a presentation that our entire camp worked on to share.

Kathy Bowser, our Day Camp Director, wanted to have our campers recite a poem that would tie in with our nautical theme as well as give them something to work on together. Not finding an age appropriate poem already out there, she put pen to paper…or fingertips to keyboard…and wrote one of her own. The result, a wonderful poem that not only had the nautical theme for which she was looking but also some great local history.

To begin our song and skit portion of family day, the youth staff and each den read their stanza they had worked on all week.
